Two of the Most Important Rules for Blogs and Why I Didn’t Follow Them

So I don’t follow the rules. I never have, if you ask my mother.

But that’s beside the point. I consider these to be two of the most important blog rules: 1. keeping your blog on your website and 2. posting regularly. Reason? Keeping it on your website ensures that all of the inbound and outbound links will benefit your website’s SEO (search engine optimization) and not the WordPress (or other blogging sites’) domain.

And posting regularly? Do the words “top of mind” mean anything to you? But let’s don’t go overboard. Do people really want to read a post from you every day? Unless you have some evangelists following you, I doubt it. And, IMHO (in my humble opinion) that goes for Facebook, Twitter, and any other social media channel.

Watch this video and in a heartbeat you’ll understand why I haven’t been posting — because I’m sure you’ve been there — at least in your head. This is your chance to (vicariously) get back at technology gone bad. Hilarious.

Disagree? (With the rules, not that the video is hilarious.) I’d love to hear why.
