How We Added Value

business group thumb upsWhen Cisco had trouble relaunching a product, they hired SMARTNET’s founder, K.T., who spearheaded a sales incentive program that garnered several success stories in a month. K.T. managed the program, the promotions, and wrote the stories. Were they happy? You tell me. They rehired her seven quarters in a row.

When Cisco’s emerging technologies division needed an emergency pinch-hitter as a program manager for their TANDBERG acquisition integration, K.T. “hit the ground running” as the liaison between solutions marketing and integrated marketing; she managed subject matter experts to launch 50-plus deliverables. Successful? Yes! And hired again. They also took advantage of her writing skills for some case studies.

K.T. then directed the creation of a video on “cloud computing.” In the words of Anne Plese at Cisco, “one of the best videos I’ve ever seen here at Cisco!”

Citrix hired K.T.as their senior writer, content manager for two quarters. She wrote case studies, partner newsletters, campaign emails, banners, speaker bios, and tweets. She also edited 100+ technical docs, localized case studies, and solution briefs. K.T. immediately saw the need to rewrite SLAs for better project management. She also streamlined their writing process, reducing the number of iterations by 50 percent. After rewriting corporate and web writing guidelines and messaging resource documentation, she recommended a search-engine capable site for messaging and writing guidelines. Then she teamed interdepartmentally to:

  1. Write a training program for APAC, EMEA and Americas’ writers, improving corporate writing standards and procedures
  2. Combine and align writing guidelines between departments

Sun then needed a couple dozen websites for solutions and industries Intratnet and Internet sites. smartNET managed the web team and K.T. wrote the content. Rosalie Cornew says it best: “… great vision and hard work towards the development of the various industry websites (both internal and external), where information was user-friendly and intuitively accessible. …effectively work on multiple projects across a matrixed organization. … welcome the opportunity to work with K.T. again and highly recommend her.”

At Sun Microsystems, after working with focus groups to refine messaging, K.T. hand-selected a client from each industry, representing every theater. She crafted the testimonials and managed the full-service agency to produce compelling collateral explaining, “Why IT Managers Choose Sun.” Success? The campaign was localized worldwide, used in the next tradeshow, and in customer briefing centers worldwide.

Applied Materials needed a full-service campaign manager for several product launches. Our design agency came up with the look and feel to brand each campaign in alignment with the overall Applied Materials brand. We were able to save Applied $30K on each direct mail campaign by utilizing the services of one of our printers.
